Welcome to SLSV

Big Wheel News

Adobe PDF Logo SLSV produces a bi-monthly news letter to help keep members informed about club activities, as well as sharing knowledge, anecdotes, and other news from the wider world of model engineering. Feel free to have a read of the April 2007 edition.

If you'd like to contribute to BWN, please email the editor.

The Steam Locomotive Society of Victoria is a model engineering society, focused primarily on the building and operation of miniature live steam and electric locomotives and rollingstock.

Public Runs

We operate for the public on the FIRST Sunday of every month, excluding January, at our track at 128 Rowans Rd, Moorabbin. The SLSV is proud to be a member of the Australian Association of Live Steamers, and are fully compliant with their standards for safe operation. As such, we remind all of our visitors that proper footwear is required to ride on our trains - the foot must be completely enclosed by the shoe. To avoid disappointment, please remember our slogan:

Exposed Toes Don't Go!

Interested in getting involved?

Model engineering is a fascinating hobby, and a great community to be part of. SLSV has members from a wide variety of backgrounds, young and old, male and female, and there's always room for more!

Looking at the amazing steam locomotives around the club, it can be a little intimidating, but there's a lot more to being involved than just building locomotives. Everything you see at the site is built and maintained by the members, from the gardens to the tracks and rollingstock.

If you think you might want to get involved at the club, feel free to email the president or secretary, or approach one of the staff at our next public run.

Coming Soon

We are currently working on a section explaining our involvement in community events, such as Neighbourhood Watch, and schools. We are also writing up an illustrated section on how minature steam locomotives work, and how we operate them.

If you come across something that's not quite right, be sure to email the webmaster.
