President's Report

The AGM has come and gone with the result that a new committee has been formed
comprising most of the previous members with the exception of Bill K who has resigned but
will continue to help in the areas he has been involved in. The officers of the club remain the
same.
The amendments to the rules to confirm the new arrangements for Gatherings and Club
days were passed at the AGM and amendment sheets are being prepared for insertion in your
Member’s Manual. For anyone who is not aware Gatherings will be held at 12 noon on the 3rd
Saturday of each month, followed by Club running. On occasions there will be a speaker and it
is BYO lunch unless you hear otherwise. There will be no arranged night meetings other than
the Committee meeting which meets on the Monday following the public run at 7-30pm. Observers
are always welcome.
I can’t let this report pass without paying tribute to John O who as most members will
have heard died tragically on the 26th of February. John was a highly regarded member who
served on the Committee for a number of years, was always at the Club on working bees and
public runs and up until recently drove regularly, vale John.
This report is a little depressing as I have to also mention the robbery at the Club which
resulted in the loss of the diesel outline shunting engine as well as a power drill, trolley and two
padlocks, the Committee has submitted an insurance claim for these items and is looking into a
replacement for the loco and up-grading security. The loss has been widely publicised to make
use or sale of the loco more difficult.
On a brighter note we have now finished another 18 metres of elevated track re-build,
this was in service for the recent Club run and proved very successful, further work will be
done later in the year. Thanks to all those members who willingly came and helped as needed.
Ron and Wayne continue to put in many long days in the water supply/cabling project
and I am pleased to report that most water points now have a full pressure supply, there is still
more to do but we are “over the hill” with this job. Well done Wayne and Ron and others who
help as needed.
A work on re-sleepering the ground level track continues under the control of John A and
I’m told that some points that haven’t worked for years will be operating again soon.
Operations on public run days are now being arranged by Allan W try to keep him informed
about your availability for public runs as this will make his job that much easier.
I’ll close now as the editor is looking for copy for this issue.
